Full Text

Thomas and his Children.

William Thomas, the man who made an unsuccessful attempt to kill himself yesterday morning, still remains at the City Hospital, and is improving. Yesterday afternoon a private meeting was held in the Mayor's office. The evidence from the witnesses went to show that the man was incapable of taking charge of his children. His effects were then taken charge of, and his children sent to the Home for Friendless Children. A guardian will be placed over the children, and Thomas will be taken care of until the proper authorities think it best to allow him his freedom.

It is stated that the meeting yesterday afternoon was a very affecting one, and little "Nellie" is reported as saying that she would be willing to again live with her father when he is restored to health.
