(Middle) Plate glass and concrete block front of Willie Joe McLamb's Dodge-Plymouth sales room and garage was blown off by the force of Hurricane Hazel. In addition severe damage was done to the roof. Other stores and homes in Shallotte also suffered wind damage during the storm.

Roofing off other buildings on the school grounds was also missing with much of it blown to Highway 17 and farther.
