Henry Clay. A Whig State Convention was held at Raleigh, N. C. on the 4th inst. About 300 delegates were present from different parts of the State. At this Convention, Henry Clay was nominated as the Whig candidate for President, to succeed John Tyler at the end of his present term.

The U. S. Gazette says in relation to this nomination, "Mr. Clay is therefore now in the field as the Whig candidate for the Presidency, and come weal come woe, his friends will nail his flag to the mast, and stand by it so long as a single plank of the ship in which they are embarked, shall float."
