Advices received from Pittsburgh inform, that an express arrived there from Fort Franklin, on the 20th ult. with intelligence that the Cornplanter's nephew had arrived at that fort on the 17th, and addressed the Commandant, Lieutenant Polhemus, in the following words: "We are sent forward by our chiefs, to let you know what has happened since we left this place: A number of warriors and chiefs are lying under ground (poisoned by the hostile Indians,) and all of us have undergone great hardships: We have long tried to make peace, but we find we cannot do it: so we will never speak to these bad Indians any more: nearly all the warriors have gone to meet the army, and a Delaware Indian informed us, that a party had gone to war, but did not know to what part: but the settlement at Connewago, &c. is supposed to be their object—The Potowatamies and six nations have put their hands together, to be on the side of the United States; the Shawanese, Delawares, Wyandots, and Tewithtawies, are determined to be at war as long as they have a man: --The Indians would have made peace, had it not been for Alexander M'Kee; for, when it was nearly concluded on, M'Kee told them, if they did, they would be ruined for ever; and that he would supply them with whatever they stood in need of, as he was authorized to do so."

—That, in consequence of this information, the frontier inhabitants had been cautioned to keep a good look out, as it was not doubted that Indian parties were out to harass them—that the scouts having seen two Indian warriors near Reed's station, on the Loyalhannah, the militia of Ligonier-valley and its vicinity, in Westmoreland county, Pennsylvania, had been ordered out on the 26th ult.
