Circuit Court To Hear
Marriage Sign Cases

The hearings of the Rev. W. F. Hopkins, the Rev. Percy Lambert and seven other persons, charged with violating the new law which forbids the use of signs to attract wedding couples, will go before the Cecil Circuit Court, at Elkton, when the constitutionality of the new law will be argued.

The defendants allege that the new law is unconstitutional on the grounds that it takes away privileges from certain people still enjoyed by others. The law, it is alleged, grants special privileges to soldiers and sailors. It also prohibits clerks of the courts from issuing marriage licenses on holidays, Sundays and after regular office hours.
