A COURAGEOUS JUDGE
One federal official has courage enough to speak his mind on a subject which has become a sore spot to many of us.
Judge W. H. Atwell of Dallas, Texas, has ruled that the Office of Price Administration has no authority to suspend the rights of a dealer to sell rationed commodities. In giving his decision the juror branded the OPA method of handling alleged violations of the price control acts as a "modern instance of dictatorship."
The OPA hearing administrator "acts without fear of consequences for malfeasance or misfeasance. If he can suspend for two weeks, he can suspend for two years. He is not only unknown to the Congress but is unknown to the Constitution," said the judge.
"He is a modern instance of pure dictatorship."
Judge, them's our sentiments too!
