Full Text

We hear from Orange, in North-Carolina, that Governor Tryon and the Regulators met the 16th instant, about 12 miles above Hillsborough, when he gave Husbands and Hunter, their two chiefs, two hours time either to lay down their arms, and repair to their respective homes in peace and good order, or declare themselves rebels. The time was near expiring, and nothing done on the part of the Regulators; and the Governor, finding by their motions, that they had determined to give him battle, a few minutes before the expiration of the time, ordered his men to open to the right and left, and uncover their cannon, which they did in the utmost good order, and instantly fired upon them with their muskets and cannon almost at one and the same time, which threw the Regulators into the greatest confusion; but they returned the Governor's fire, killed seven of his men, and wounded forty. The Regulators had one hundred and sixty killed, and one hundred taken prisoners.
