HIGHLAND PARK, Ill.-- Report of the Board of Trustees to active members of the Home Society for the year ending Sept. 30, 1951 show receipts of $98,885.38 and disbursements of $97,216.74.
Receipts increased $6,668.64 from the previous year, and disbursements were up $2,678.97.
Total balance as of Sept. 30 was $71,341.01.
Board of Trustees consists of H. F. Hempy, BLE general secretary and treasurer, who is chairman; BRT GS&T D. A. MacKenzie, secretary, and BLF&E GS&T W. E. Jones, the third member of the board.
The Home for Aged and Disabled Railroad Employees was remembered in the will of Arthur H. Seidt, BRT Lodge 244, during the year, receiving $1,095.67.
Alex C. Jeffry, Chattanooga, Tenn. also left the Home $100 in his will.
Medical and hospital expenses have been considerably higher than during the previous year, reports the Board, due to the fact that four residents underwent surgery, and another resident fractured a leg twice during the year. Two others were hospitalized for serious illness.
As of Oct. 1, 1950, there were 39 residents of the Home. Three BRT members and one BLE member were admitted during the year. Two members of the BLF&E, who were residents at the Home, and one BRT resident of the Home passed away this year. A total of 40 residents were living in the Home on Sept. 30, 1951.
Applications were mailed to president and other officers of BLE and one lodge of BLF&E.
