WASHINGTON-(INS)- President Eisenhower issued an order Monday giving Federal workers an extra one and one-half days off during the holidays—the day before Christmas and a half-day on New Year's eve.
Since both Christmas and New Year's fall on Saturday this year, most Government workers would not have received any special time off without the Presidential order.
Mr. Eisenhower directed that all principal Federal offices be closed on Friday, Dec. 24, and one half day on Friday, Dec. 31. The time off will not be charged against the annual leave of Federal employees.
