Mrs. Odessa Washington Named 'Teacher Of Year' In Newton County
Mrs. Odessa Washington, instructor of Washington Street Elementary School, has been selected "Teacher of the Year" for Newton County Schools. Covington, Ga.
Mrs. Washington is an active member of the ATA, the GTEA, and the Newton County Teachers Association; served as president, treasurer and chaplain of the local organization.
She has had 36 successful years of teaching experience along with outstanding community work. Her church activities include, an active member of the Grace Methodist Church, superintendent of Sunday School, teacher of Bible School, president of the local W. S. C. S. and district president of the Woman Society of Christian Service of the Atlanta East District. She is also a member of the Garden and Civic Clubs.
Mrs. Washington's educational background has been broadened through traveling in the United States and abroad—Havana, Cuba, and Nassau, Bahamas.
Her strong points are personality, dignity, vitality, integrity and resourcefulness. The above qualities have enabled Mrs. Washington to become an outstanding teacher who is loved by students and her contemporaries.
