COLT BADLY FRIGHTENED

By a Pigeon Snared by a Somersworth Boy Yesterday

Hiram Towle of this city had a narrow escape from a serious accident at Somersworth yesterday. He was driving a young colt along the street there, which he is breaking to harness, when the animal suddenly became frightened in a peculiar manner. A boy was engaged in snaring pigeons in the street and caught one just as Mr. Towle reached the scene. The pigeon with the snare string attached flew up directly in front of the colt. The string brushing against its face caused the animal to rear up throwing Mr. Towle from the road cart in which he was seated, and it was some little time before he could get control of the animal. Mr. Towle escaped with a severe shaking up, but he does not care to pass through another ordeal of that kind.
