A Railway Mail Clerk.
It is wisely recommended that Ketchum and Hailey at once commence the circulation of petitions to the Postmaster General for a railway mail clerk on the Wood River branch of the O. S. L.
There is no other way for us to get direct mails between Ketchum and Bellevue and it will insure to our citizens the long-felt want of through mails from Shoshone. Every citizen on Wood River has felt to the bottom of his soul the necessity of this, and of quicker mails between Bellevue and Ketchum, and will readily show his interest and desire in the matter. By commissioning the express agent on the line with the authority to act, conjointly with his other business, as mail clerk, the expense to the Government would be very light and the business would doubtless be performed quite satisfactorily to all.
The present agent is Mr. J. E. Thompson, a gentleman who is capable in every respect for the position, and would it not be well to recommend his name in the petition forwarded? He would probably be the man chosen, if any, at all events.
