Full Text

Mr Jacob B. Barker of New York, has recently put forth a pamphlet, exposing the real parties to the purchase and sale of the Tradesmen's Bank in 1826. It is conceded by the New York papers heretofore opposed to Mr Barker, that he fully exonerates himself from all connexion with this transaction. In fact Mr B. proves that at the period he is accused of having been engaged in this business, he was actually in Nantucket. Mr Barker's disclosures strongly implicate, Mr Riker, the Recorder of the City.

On Monday evening last, a large number of citizens assembled at the Exchange in N. York upon invitation from Mr Barker. The large Hall was crowded, 3000 persons being present and Mr B. harangued the people, on the subject of the charges against him and the conduct of the Recorder. It is evident that he carried his audience with him, and the New York Journal says:—"If the statements which he made are true (and judging from the applause they drew forth, the audience so received them,) he has completely exculpated himself and has at the same time kindled a fire that will consume a certain judicial officer in this city.—[Mr Recorder Riker]"
