Annex to Centerville Hotel Almost Completed.

The big new annex, containing twenty-six rooms which is being built to the Continental hotel at Centerville, is about completed. The Continental hotel property is owned by Leon parties and the annex will cost them about $30,000. The following notice of the new addition appeared in last week's Centerville Journal:

The beautiful annex to Centerville's most famous hostelry, the Continental, is about completed—and Manager Markley is hopeful that all of the finishing touches will have been completed in time to assure its readiness for guests by the first of April, but as there is a good deal of painting yet to be done and other finishing touches to be added, it is entirely possible that it will be a little later than that date before everything will be in ship shape in the excellent new structure which the owners of the Continental Hotel have so generously provided for its patrons.

The plumbing and steam fitting under the supervision of Earnest Arvson, who had the entire contract for that line of work, is about completed with the exception of some of the radiators which are being installed this week so that the painters may follow at once and give them the paint of the desired shade to harmonize with the rooms, which are finished in the natural color.

There are twenty-six guest rooms supplied by the building of the new annex and it is safe to say that no better rooms will be found in any hotel in southern Iowa, no exception being made for size of town. Fourteen of the new rooms are on the third floor and twelve of them on the second floor, while the new office suite of Dr. C. S. James and the hotel sample rooms will occupy the ground floor.

The new annex is most liberally supplied with baths and all of the rooms are supplied with stationary wash stands with running hot and cold water. On the second floor there are three private shower baths and six private tub baths, while on the third floor there is one public bath room and one private bath room. All of the rooms are supplied with closets and there is a slop sink on each floor.

The furniture for the new annex arrived on Monday and it is expected that it will be installed just as soon as the painters have finished their work. A great deal of credit for this splendid addition to the hotel accommodations of Centerville is due to Manager Markley, who during his incumbency of the managership of the hotel has brought the service, with the aid of Mrs. Markley, to a point of excellence that has made the Continental easily one of the most popular hotels in this part of the state and brings many people to the city for no other purpose than to enjoy the service afforded by the Continental.
