Kansas Democrats Solid For Ayres

HUTCHINSON, Kan., April 25.—Representative W. A. Ayres, native son of Kansas, came from obscurity at the State Convention here yesterday to win an instructed delegation.

It had been announced that Ayres would not be a candidate and virtually all the delegates to the national meeting were chosen with respect to their standing on Governor Al Smith or Senator James A. Reed.

Then the resolution committee reported and it was found that Ayres followers had incorporated a resolution instructing the delegation from Kansas to vote for Ayres for president "as long as a majority of the members believe he has a chance of being nominated."
