They write from Madrid, that the Behaviour of the Governor of Carthagena, towards the Squadron under Commodore Keppel, has been entirely disapproved of by the Court, and fresh Orders have been sent to him and all other Governors in the Ports of Spain, to be yet more strict in Regard to all Ships suspected of having touched on the Coasts of Africa, or spoke with other Vessels coming from infected Places.

They also inform us, that eighteen Tartans are arrived from Naples at Cadiz laden with Timber for eight Ships of the Line actually on the Stocks there; and that many Artificers of different Nations came over from Italy in the said Tartans.
