The National Reemployment office in the town building on High street today threw open to all prospective employers of Windham and Tolland counties its valuable files in which 4,500 men and 300 women are classified as to ability and past experience in practically every known type of industry, mercantile and trade labor existing in the two counties.
The move to make this material within free and easy reach is in line with an intensive drive launched by the national office for the reemployment of men and women in non-government projects of permanent or temporary nature.
While hundreds of those classified are now at work under the CWA or PWA it is recognized that these projects are but temporary and that the income derived from them is nominal.
The result is that the majority of those now employed in government work as well as those who have not as yet been placed are available for private employment.
In a form letter which is about to be widely circulated through the mails all commercial, industrial, construction and domestic employers of the district are invited to make every effort to cooperate in this important reemployment endeavor and to benefit, without cost or obligation, from the volume of accurate information compiled by the reemployment office.
These hundreds of men and women are anxiously awaiting an opportunity to earn a living, it is pointed out, and to this end the national office offers to do its part in supplying the right man or the right woman for any type of job.
Many are highly capable persons who are trained and experienced for jobs in any industrial or mercantile field.
Hundreds are classified with high references from former employers.
Many have taken advantage of protracted unemployment by taking advanced courses in trades and clerical subjects.
In addition to the form letter to employers and home-owners the appeal for co-operation to this worthy cause is being directed to the public through the pulpits of the churches throughout the district and through the press.
Persons wishing to take advantage of this service may do so by calling the National Reemployment Office, telephone Willimantic 351 or 770.
Interviews will be arranged at the convenience of the employer.
