Full Text
If the workingmen of the XIXth Assembly District understand their own interests, the Republican candidate, Mr. A. R. Foote, will be elected by a heavy majority. The district is Democratic in ordinary party contests, but Mr. Foote's candidacy appeals strongly to the good judgment and good will of the working classes without distinction of party. He has long been a devoted and intelligent laborer in practical efforts for the improvement of their condition. The Cooperative Store movement in this city owes its existence and success to his exertions. He believes that in industrial cooperation will be found the true remedy for poverty, and the safe stepping-stone to an improved social condition for the laboring masses. Mr. Foote is the author of important measures to encourage and strengthen the cooperative and mutual benefit societies, which will be pressed in the next Legislature. The voters of his district cannot do better than to send him to Albany to advocate them.
