DES MOINES, Ia.—ANP—Luther LaBeach, the University of Wisconsin's ace track star, added more laurels to his track record during the two-day Drake relays Saturday and Sunday which brought together more than 600 athletes from 53 universities and colleges. LaBeach won the broad jump on Saturday by leaping 23 feet 10 inches. LaBeach narrowly missed winning the 100-yard dash on Sunday when he crowded Martineson, the winner, in :09.9. His spectacular performances were coupled with Sylvester Stewart, Miami university's Negro track star who starred for his school on the sprint medley team Saturday and was a member of Miami's victorious two-mile relay team on Sunday, winning the Saturday sprint medley in 3:34.8 and won the mile relay in 3:19.
