Hardeeville Circuit.—I trust no one will mistake the heading of this article for Hardscrabble Circuit. Hardeeville does sound a little like it, but I want to assure the readers of The Advocate that I am not the unfortunate preacher. Can't say about the people. I trust, however, that the people are not suffering badly at present, as I have just closed my round of special meetings, or rather Bro. S. S. Blanchard has for me, he doing nearly all the work. Those who know Brother B. can form some idea of how the people fared as they sat and listened to his "full salvation sermons." He did us good work at all four of my churches. Brethren who need help will do well to secure his labors, if they do have to let him sing, "Down by the River." We have had only six or eight accessions to the Church during the year. There were a number of conversions, some of which were very bright. The greatest good we think was done in the toning up of the members of the Church, the main object we had in view in holding the special meetings so early in the year. The people are very kind to the preacher down here. Can't say as to whether the same testimony would be borne by the pew of the preacher or not. In some instances it is to be doubted. Some doses administered have not been very pleasant to the taste and have caused some to frown. All, however, has been done in love, and the results are in the hands of God. I am very much encouraged with my work. May 3d.

G. R. WHITAKER.
