The Legislature.

We learn from Concord, that the Legislature will this week repeal the unconstitutional and obnoxious Judiciary act. This intelligence must be exceedingly gratifying to the friends of the constitution, good government and the rights of man. Probably those unprincipled partizans, who had the temerity and baseness to pass it, will now have the audacity to emit their venom upon the administration that repeals it; but candid federalists admit the act to be unconstitutional. It would therefore be wilful perjury for the guardians of the constitution to continue it in force. It is expected that a number of federal representatives will vote for the repeal.

A report reached town last week, that the legislature had postponed the repeal of the Judiciary Act until the fall session. That report excited feelings, which would, had it been true, have soon convinced our public agents, that they had forfeited the confidence of their constituents. We are happy to learn that it was unfounded. Nothing short of the immediate repeal of the Judiciary Act will satisfy the people. The repeal of this act effectually removes the new Judges who hold under it, from their seats, as they derive no powers from the constitution, and have no legal tenure to the office of Judge.

The old Judiciary system, coeval with the first settlement of this country, will we trust, be restored. The experience of ages shows, that the old system is nearly as perfect as the wisdom of man could devise.

If our wise Legislators do their duty this session, they will receive from every quarter of the State the just tribute of respect, "well done, good and faithful servants."
