Weekly Sermon
By Rev. W. L. Battle

Acts 9:5 And he said, "Who art thou, Lord?" And the Lord said, "I am Jesus whom thou persecuted; it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks."

Subject: I am Jesus.

In this verse Christ is recognized three times by Saul of Tarsus, a city southeast of Asia Minor. Saul, the propagandist for the opposers of Christianity, was sent to Damascus, the capital city in Syria, to persecute and bring bound to Jerusalem those who believed in the teachings of Jesus Christ.

On his way a great light from heaven knocked him down. Saul said, "Lord, who art thou?" Jesus spoke. "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to fight against me."

Saul, being an intelligent man, recognized Jesus and cried out, "Lord, what wilt Thou have me do?"

Rev. Ananias met Saul on Straight Street and prayed for him until he was a Christian. Then Saul became ashamed of his attitude toward the church and changed his name to Paul (which means little).

You, who don't understand Christ and His church, should know there is always a light shining around you. The bible is the light. The ministry of God and those who lead Christian lives are lights.

Why not come to Jesus. He has rest, peace and joy for you. He is the door to eternal life.

I've lived a devout Christian life for more than 15 years. I've found out what the bible says is true and that Christ is as alive as He ever was. Since I've been changed, I have an honest heart with no desire or thought of doing wrong. That is peace.

May God bless you to come to the bible for ecclesiastical training. Listen to our message on Gospel Temple Time. WCO. W, 3 p.m., Sunday.
