Full Text

A Case of Conscience. -- The Clarksburg (West Va.) Conservative says that Isaiah Young committed suicide in a fit of mental despondency. The reasons assigned are, that during the war he was actively engaged in reporting his neighbors to the Provost Marshal and having them arrested for disloyalty and since the war he has been reporting them to the Registrars and having their names stricken from the list of voters. This latterly preyed upon his mind, that after begging the forgiveness of his injured neighbors, he went Judas like, and "hanged himself."
