His Excellency was received on his landing by Governor Scott, the former Commander in Chief, attended by the civil officers, and a great number of the principal inhabitants of the Island, with all the marks of respect due to his dignity and personal merit, from whence he proceeded to the government House, the streets being lined with his Majesty's troops in garrison; where his Commission of Captain-General and Governor in Chief, &c. &c. &c. was published: after which he received, with great politeness, the compliments of the gentlemen present. And, we are informed, he was then sworn in Council into his high office, with all the usual solemnities; after which his Excellency and a great number of gentlemen were elegantly entertained by Governor Scott.
