OVER $500 RAISED
AT CATHOLIC FAIR

Large Crowds Throng the Opera House Where Gay Festival Is Held. Pretty Fancy Articles Sold; Big Dance in Evening

Knowing that the Catholic fair would be unusually attractive, people came from all the surrounding towns to participate in the festivities. The bazaar was open all afternoon and evening, Saturday, and the ladies sold out almost completely all the pretty articles they had made. They had worked most faithfully for a long time preparing the dainty hand work for this occasion, and had a magnificent display.

In the evening the dance was held and there was an immense crowd of spectators and dancers. At intervals during the evening the numerous drawings took place, and the fortunate ones were happy over their gains. A dainty lunch was served by the ladies of the church in the Opera cafe all afternoon and evening, and all told, the church made over $500.

Being unable to secure a list of all those getting prizes for today's issue, we will give those in which so much interest was taken preceding the fair. The silver-plated toilet set was drawn by Miss Myrtle Turner, and the beautiful doll which had been gazed upon by several pairs of longing eyes, was awarded to little Mary Woodward. Miss Eva Woodward was fortunate in securing the creton dresser set. There were numerous other articles, thus giving various opportunities for prizes.

The Catholic ladies were untiring in their efforts to make the affair a success, and succeeded far beyond their expectations. The last fair given by St. Paul's church preceded the presidential election four years ago.
