The goal set by the New York office for Atlanta's apportionment was passed last night at the enthusiastic Report Meeting held at the offices of the Atlanta Life Insurance Company.
E. M. Martin, Jr., Secretary of the Atlanta Life Insurance Company, who has made a study of the filibuster against the Anti-Lynching Bill, related the serious significance of the propaganda issued by the Southern Senators.
The large sum of $206.75 was reported last night.
The Drive Chairman, Miss H. V. Feger, stated that certain business and educational organizations due to make the largest contributions reported that these organizations would turn in their contributions during the coming week. Consequently, there will be, according to Miss Feger, another report meeting next Friday.
The various school faculties have responded admirably, and to date, Mrs. Hattie Green has reported for Gray Street School, 100 per cent, or $14; Miss Dorothy E. Hornsby for Wesley Avenue School, $8; Miss Carrie Watts for Ashby Street School, $13; Miss L. A. Rush for Yonge Street School, $9.50; Miss Georgia Washburn for Walker Street School $6; Miss Hazel Rucker for W. H. Crogman School $28.50, or 100 per cent; Miss Marian Allen for Bell Street School $7; Mrs. J. S. Roberts for the E. P. Johnson night school $14.36; Mrs. O. W. Westmoreland for the David T. Howard Night School $11.50;
R. B. Perry has reported to date the sum of $53 from the post-office employees.
The Young People's Service League of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, took out a $2.50 membership; Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity $5.25; Miss Frankie Adams for the Atlanta School of Social Work Faculty $15.50 or 100 per cent; Gilbert Turman for the North Carolina Mutual Insurance Company and personal contributions $30; Mrs. Louise Torrence who is working at Allen Temple, reported $16; Mrs M. Wimbish reported $8; Mrs. G. A. Howell reported $10; Mrs. Sawyer and Miss Morrison for Wheat Street Baptist Church $21: C. A. Scott reported 100 per cent for the Atlanta Daily WORLD and 100 per cent for the Harden Service Station, making a total of $96.50: J. R. Wilson, Jr., is working with Mr. Scott. Mr. J. P. Jackson reported $8: Mrs. Charles C. Cater reported $22.50: Mrs. P. Holmes reported $15: H. A. Sayles and Mrs. George Towns reported for University Homes $20.25. Miss Marian Allen reported for Friendship Baptist Church $7: J. L. Dobbs reported for the Janitors' Union $9.50: Miss Ruby Wise reported personal contributions of $9.50: Mr. S. L. Vaughn, vice-president of the Atlanta Branch, reported $8.50: Miss Ella Ramsey reported $3. A $15 membership was taken out by Dr. E. S. Bouwden: $5 by the Delta Sigma Theta sorority: and Mrs. J. L. Wheeler reported $11 from her Neighborhood Club.
Next week the Atlanta Life Insurance Company, Washington Night and Crogman Night School, Afro-Insurance Company, Pilgrim Insurance Company, and a member of fraternities and sororities will make reports.
