Gen Green: You have advised the public of the existence of a subordinate regency at Washington, whose veiled influence in the matters of the administration is potent and pervading, and whose mandate, next to that of the Albany junta, exacts the most implicit obedience of the 'party.'
To corroborate your statement in this behalf, I take leave to subjoin an extract of an edict from this irresponsible, yet controlling power at the Capital. 'If the Globe or any authorized agent, shall presume to challenge the accuracy of the quotation, or deny that it emanated from the source avowed, the author of this note holds himself prepared to prove his allegation, and to designate, by permission of the parties concerned, the high public functionary who drafted the mandate. Here it is:
'I am happy to learn, that you are about to hold a convention in Columbus, and that it will be numerously attended. I wish you to be sure to pass a resolution strongly vetoing the re-chartering of the U. S. Bank, in order to produce an effect in other parts of the Union, and to sustain General Jackson in his democratic administration.'
Comment is unnecessary.
