Blazing Oil Works.

Norfolk, Va., Nov. 1. - The accidental escape of oil at the Old Dominion Creosoting works, Edward Andrews, proprietor, at Money Point, a few miles up the river from here, caused the destruction of the entire works, a quantity of lumber and 6,000 barrels of creosoting oil. The cause of the disaster was the loosening of a packing on the pressure pump, which let the oil escape and knocked over a lamp. In a moment everything was in a blaze. The immense cylinders, 100 feet long and six feet in diameter, exploded and disappeared, it is thought, in the river, 100 feet away. The loss is estimated at $100,000; insurance unknown. There was no loss of life.
