Full Text

With approximately forty men now working on their fourth week on the Marion school grounds and buildings, the local plant is taking on a completely new appearance. Already both buildings have been painted on the outside and a great part of the high school building has had an inside coat. In addition to the renovation of the buildings the grounds back of the elementary building are in the process of grading which, when completed, will extend the athletic field approximately fifty feet and afford a complete new entrance for cars into the school grounds.

The roadway that has heretofore led into the school grounds and athletic field is now almost completely filled and it is expected that another week will see the ground leading from the high school building across the athletic field leveled off and ready for the extension of the lawn in front of the high school building to take in the old roadway. The present plans call for concrete steps leading up from the sidewalk where the roadbed was, so that pedestrians will have a means of entrance to the athletic field without having to go around by the front of the high school building.

The entire cost of the labor for these projects is being met with funds received by McDowell county from the R. F. C.
