Sanders Sold Out To The NAACP, CORE, McGill And Lane;
Allen Betrayed White People Of Atlanta For Negro Vote
Mayor's Enforcement Of Secret Promise Of Full Integration May Wreck Hotels
Ivan Allen has sold out the white people of Atlanta and Carl Sanders has sold out the white people of Georgia.
They have sold the white people out to CORE, the NAACP and the Negro bloc vote in Atlanta.
They have promised them full integration in Georgia.
We have been trying to tell the people of Georgia that Ivan Allen traded off the white people of Atlanta for the Negro vote in his race for Mayor last year.
Made Secret Promise
Ivan Allen went before the Negroes and secretly promised them that he would integrate the parks and swimming pools, the hotels and the restaurants in Atlanta by the end of 1962.
Ivan Allen also promised to aid and assist them in speeding up the program of race mixing in the public schools in Atlanta.
Ivan Allen has done everything he could to fulfill these promises to the Negro bloc vote.
Allen Forced Integration
1. Integration in the public schools in Atlanta was stepped up when the schools opened last week. There were twice as many Negroes in the white schools this year as last year.
2. He got the hotel men in Atlanta together and demanded that they integrate their hotels, but the operators refused.
3. He has demanded that the restaurants integrate and the operators have refused.
4. He has forced the integration of the parks and swimming pools in Atlanta.
On Tuesday, August 21, 1962, the City Attorney of Atlanta, at the request of the Mayor, appeared in federal court before Judge Lewis R. Morgan and asked the judge to order the pools and parks of Atlanta integrated.

Allen, Lane, McGill Are Turning Atlanta Into "Playground" Of Rape And Murder
The election of Carl Sanders, of Augusta, as Governor means that the women in Atlanta, and other cities in Georgia, will continue to live in a state of fear for their own safety and for the safety of their daughters.
Many women in Atlanta today are living in a constant state of terror and fear.
They know of the many rapes and murders of white women by Negro men in their own communities and they know not when the brutes will strike in their own homes.
Atlanta women fearful
On a recent two-day trip to Atlanta at least a dozen Atlanta women told the writer of this article that they lived in a constant state of fear and were never able to lie down and sleep with any feeling of safety at night.
And then, we came across a letter to the editor in the issue of THE AUGUSTA CHRONICLE under the date of August 31, 1962, written by Mary Hammond, of 1385 West Peachtree St., N. E., Atlanta.
Mary Hammond is the daughter of John W. Hammond, who, at one time,

Consent Decree
The pink edition of THE ATLANTA JOURNAL of that same date carried a statement that Judge Morgan's order was a consent decree - that means that the decree was prepared, presented to him and that both sides requested his signature.
Before signing this order, Judge Morgan took his pen and wrote in between the lines that the decree was stipulated and agreed to by both parties to the suit, and the City of Atlanta was the party defendant.
So, the parks and the swimming pools in Atlanta will be integrated from now on at the request of the City of Atlanta and its Mayor and not by the decree of the Court.
The City of Atlanta put up no fight and did nothing to protect its parks, its playgrounds and its pools, but simply — in order to carry out the campaign pledges of Ivan Allen - surrendered without firing a shot and requested that this be done.
Going after Hotels
The movement to integrate the hotels and eating places in Atlanta has been suspended during the present political campaign and the fight to integrate both will be renewed as soon as the present Governor's race is over.
The same group is running Carl Sanders for Governor as ran Ivan Allen for Mayor.
Ivan Allen had Mills B. Lane as treasurer of his campaign and Carl Sanders has Mills B. Lane as treasurer of his campaign.
The Atlanta newspapers ran Ivan Allen for Mayor as their candidate and the Atlanta newspapers are running Carl Sanders for Governor in the present campaign.
They are Sanders' Master
The same people in Atlanta are putting up the money and furnishing the votes in support of Carl Sanders as put up the money and furnished the votes for the election of Ivan Allen as Mayor.
Marvin Will Fight
They sold out the white people in the Mayor's race in Atlanta in 1961 and they have sold out the white people in the race for Governor of 1962.
The question remaining unsettled is whether or not they will be able to deliver to the NAACP and the Negro bloc vote, as they have delivered it in the City of Atlanta.
Marvin Griffin is the only force in Georgia that stands in the way of this big sell-out. If Marvin Griffin is elected Governor, this crowd of race mixers cannot deliver their promises to the Negro bloc vote in Atlanta.
Marvin Griffin says that if he's elected Governor he will take the Highway Patrol, the National Guard and whatever else is necessary, and protect these places from integration.

was managing editor of THE AUGUSTA CHRONICLE and for many years was the Atlanta representative of THE AUGUSTA CHRONICLE and the SAVANNAH MORNING NEWS, THE MACON TELEGRAPH and several other papers in Georgia.
Writes to Chronicle
He was, for years, one of the most prominent figures in Georgia's political life and finally served as Secretary of the State Senate.
Mary Hammond writes THE AUGUSTA CHRONICLE as follows:
"The same carpetbag - scalawag Negro bloc which elected Atlanta's mayor is backing Sanders, and if all Georgias could know the conditions that prevail in and around your capital city, not one would vote for their candidate.
"Crime and violence are rampant. Of course you all know about the numerous bank robberies that the local police can never solve, but you hear little or nothing about the sex crimes, because the Atlanta newspapers sweep them under the carpet. White women here have no freedom at all. In my day - 20-odd years ago - we felt free to attend night school, the theatre, concerts, opera, without an escort. Now it is unsafe to answer your front door after dark. Indeed, we are not even safe in our own homes unless we barricade ourselves in an upstairs room. Only last Saturday night a 9-year old child was abducted from her bed and violated twice by a Negro, who admitted at least nine other assaults and attempted assaults on white girls and women.
"A few months ago a white woman was raped in her own bedroom by a Negro, who climbed into a window. This happened across from Peachtree Station, only a few blocks from this writer's residence, a supposedly good upper - middle - class all-white neighborhood.
"More recently than that a woman watchmaker in the Peachtree- 10th Street area was brutally murdered by a Negro on the same night that three other white women were assaulted by Negroes."

The article claims Mayor Ivan Allen secretly promised full integration of Atlanta's public facilities to gain Black votes, leading to forced school, park, and pool integration via a consent decree on August 21, 1962. It accuses Carl Sanders of similar betrayal in his gubernatorial campaign, linking integration to rampant crime against white women, illustrated by Mary Hammond's letter detailing rapes and murders.
