DOUGLAS, Dec. 15.—The ban on the sale of arms and ammunition, effective along the international boundary for some time, has been put in effect in all of the towns in Arizona south of the right of way of the Southern Pacific railroad. Agents of the army intelligence have completed a trip including Bisbee, Tombstone, Tucson, Benson, Bowie, Cochise and other points.
At each place a person was appointed, usually a public official, charged with the sole right to issue permits to buy arms or ammunition or to refuse to issue them should he see fit. Furthermore, it has been announced by the military that in order to make the rule effective, no munitions of any character except .22 caliber rifle cartridges and shotgun shells loaded with small shot, would be allowed to be shipped into the prohibited zone.
