Full Text

Ohio.--The State Journal says that the bill to divide this state into Congressional districts partakes of the worst features of the Gerrymander. The Whig, majorities are piled up mountain high--like Pelion and Ossa upon the summits of Olympus.- The 21st district, for example, Ashtabula, Lake, Geauga and Cuyahoga, gave an aggregate Whig majority at the election in 1840, of 6117! The 4th district Wayne, Green, &c., gave a like majority of 4811! The Loco Foco majorities are attenuated to their utmost capacity. By the election of 1840, when the Whigs had a majority of 16,000 in the State, they would hold but ten of the twenty one districts, and by the last fall's election, which showed the Loco Focos in a minority in the State of 2000, the Whigs would carry six of the new districts, and the party composing the minority of the People, the other FIFTEEN!
