Paris. Feb. 22. The two regiments of French and Swiss guards received orders the 19th instant, to hold themselves in readiness to march by the beginning of next month for the Lower Rhine. It is thought they are to be employed in Marshal Broglio's army. Notwithstanding the several checks the French have met with at sea last year, we are assured that our embarkation will take place sooner than is imagined: but the command of the fleet is not destined for M. Conflans: this nobleman is very seldom seen at court. Some pretend M. de Herouville is appointed to the task of retrieving the honour of the French flag. Couriers were never so frequent as at this time, scarce a day passing without the arrival of one either from Petersburg or Vienna: but very little transpires of their dispatches. We know, however, that they relate to the overtures of peace made by England and Prussia, and that both the Empresses absolutely persist on the necessity of making another campaign.
