Atlantans
To
Hear Expert On
Co-Op Movement

Citizens of Atlanta, Georgia will get a chance this spring to learn all about the cooperative movement when an expert in this field will give a series of public lectures here.

Dr. Jacob L. Reddix, President of Jackson College, will appear in Atlanta on April 7 and 8, and will give lectures at Morehouse College, Morris Brown College, Spelman College and will do a city-wide luncheon-forum for the Hungry Club. This luncheon speech will be broadcast.

Dr. Reddix has been a prominent figure in the consumer cooperative movement since the 1930's when he founded a buying club in Gary, Indiana that mushroomed into a $20,000 business. Since then, Dr. Reddix has been a consultant to the Department of Agriculture and has traveled all over the United States and in West Africa.

Since becoming the President of Jackson College in 1940, he has sponsored both consumer and credit cooperatives in the state of Mississippi that now do a business in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. He is the author of the book, A Five-Year Plan of Cooperative Action.

Atlantans will get a chance to hear this expert explain why he is convinced that the cooperative movement points the way to economic security for minority peoples.

He is being brought to Atlanta under the auspices of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity of which he is a member. All lectures are free and open to the public.
