Man Found Dead in Mandan
Hotel Is Not Kahilius, Want-
ed in Duluth Murder
After checking finger print classi-
fications, state prison experts said
Wednesday night the stranger found
dead in a Mandan hotel room where
he registered as J. Miller, Chicago, was
not John Kahilus, 38, sought by Du-
luth, Minn. authorities for question.
ing on a seven-year-old murder count.
H. Sortomme, expert of the North
Dakota bureau of criminal identifi-
cation at the penitentiary, declared
there was "not a possibility" that the
dead man was John Kahilus, accord-
ing to finger print classifications of
the hunted Duluth man.
Prints of the suicide victim's fingers
made by coroner J. K. Kennelly and
Sheriff E. O. Lindstrom, Mandan,
and the classification of Kahilus
prints forwarded from Duluth are
"very unlike," Sortomme said.
The expert said the dead man's
prints were forwarded to the depart-
ment of criminal identification at
Washington for further checking on
identity of the stranger who, police
said, died of a self-inflicted bullet
wound.
Because he carried a Duluth ad-
dress, authorities there believed him
to be John Kahilus, alias Jack Miller,
wanted for questioning in the un-
solved murder of Sam Kentilla in
August, 1930.
Coroner Kennelly, who said the
body will be buried Friday unless
word from relatives was received, as-
serted pictures of Kahilus from Du-
luth "slightly resembled" those car-
ried by Miller when the body was
found.

Event Details
A stranger registered as J. Miller from Chicago was found dead in a Mandan hotel room from a self-inflicted bullet wound. Initially believed to be John Kahilus, wanted for questioning in the 1930 murder of Sam Kentilla in Duluth, Minn., due to a Duluth address and resemblance in pictures. State prison experts, including H. Sortomme, compared fingerprints taken by coroner J. K. Kennelly and Sheriff E. O. Lindstrom, declaring no possibility of match.
