BOSTON, June 13.

BRITISH PIRACIES.

The cargo of the schooner Hibernia, Capt. Merry, of Boston, has been condemned, and sold at Halifax, for a breach of the Revenue or navigation laws. The cargo consisted of wine, rum, molasses, tea, tobacco, boots and shoes, raisins, gin, chocolate, hats, duck, blankets, calico, cloths, cards, iron pots and kettles, bureaus, codlines, stone ware, indigo, &c.

A letter from Halifax, dated May 27, says, "the schooner Hibernia, Capt. Patrick Merry, was lately brought into this port, upon a charge of smuggling, having been seen at anchor in one of the western harbors of the province. A claim was laid, in behalf of the Master and Freighters, and as it was clearly proved and admitted, that the schooner had not broke bulk. an acquittal was expected on that ground. Strong testimony, however, appearing, that the cargo had been contracted for, with Merry, by a trader of La Have, who was to have given him fish in return, and other circumstances corroborating to disclose an intention of breaking bulk, when an opportunity offered, the judge took the will for the deed, and sentenced both vessel and cargo, to condemnation, this morning. Upon legal grounds the sentence is manifestly wrong; for whatever might have been the intention of Merry, nothing having been landed or offered for sale, she ought to be acquitted; but the facts in proof created a prejudice fatal to the claims." The above schooner was taken 8 leagues from the land; and the person who handed this article, and the avowal of it, if necessary, shall not be wanting, avers that if the Judge of the Admiralty who condemned the above schooner, took the oath to do impartial justice, before he entered on the duties of his office, he is a PERJURED VILLAIN.
