The Virginia Democratic State Convention, as we stated in a portion of our last week's issue, nominated Hon. John Letcher for Governor, Robt. I. Montague for Lt. Governor, and J. R. Tucker for Attorney General. We regret to say that the Convention was one of the worst behaved bodies ever assembled in this country, if the accounts in the Petersburg papers are correct, and we suppose they are. The lie was passed between members, some groaned, some applauded, some hissed, and others went off to arrange matters for fighting a duel. But after Mr. Letcher was nominated, all hands declared their determination to give him a hearty support. A resolution was adopted endorsing the administration of Mr. Buchanan, but one expressing joy at the result of the Illinois election was rejected.
