Imperial county has a total registration of 17,272, according to figures compiled this afternoon by Edward H. Law, county clerk, and his aides.
A political shift from the Republican majority of last year is seen in the figures which show 1153 more Democrats than Republicans among the registered voters of the county this year. The total Republican registration this year is 7596, while that of the Democrats is 8747.
More women registered as Republicans than as Democrats, however. Women declaring their affiliation with the Republican party numbered 3098, while women registering as Democrats numbered 2889. There are 4498 Republican men and 5858 Democratic men.
The discrepancy between the total of Republicans and Democrats and the grand total is made up of those who declined to state their party affiliation, or registered as Socialists.
