Dec. 20. Advices were received by the way
of France which mention accounts being received
in Paris from India so late as the 20th
of July. at which time Tippo Saib was violently
ill of a calenture. in which he was attended
by four French Physicians and Surgeons,
who had reported his life to be in the
most imminent danger. This was the means
of deferring some intended operations which
had been planned by the Cabinet of this
Chief. Some of his principal officers had
been also attacked with the same disorder,
and a number of the troops were sick.
