Last week one Mr. James Easley was unfortunately arrested on the charge of having been found slightly under the influence of a little moonshine observed though by the odor or smell, was rearrested right before the Squire's, was fined and given days in jail. The fine was $25 and cost of the court. When Squire Jones learned at second that this unfortunate wed brother had never been guilty of the slightest offense, had no reputation re. had no reputation promiscuous violator w. had never been in trouble before, then having a recommendation of the men who said he was especially polite, showed no sign of malice, incorrigibility and perfectly polite and nice to everybody, the Justice Jones upon the payment of the fine to turn time and cost to the same Jones and to allow him to return to his wife, go back to his job and under a faithful promise to stay away from this run amine-kill me quick booze, he might go back home to his wife and sin no more. There upon James Easley paid fine and cost and is now back to his home, working, praying promising to live closer to the cross than ever before. The neighbors, both white and colored are doffing their hats at Squire Jones for so merciful and conservative a consideration and adjustment of so small an offense.
