Full Text
Everybody has heard of Richard Mansfield, the actor, of his recent essay in the character of Richard III, of his blood-curdling performances of the dual role of Jekyl and Hyde and of his marvelous assumption of the lecherous old baron in "Parisian Romance."
Not every one who knows Mansfield, however, says the St. Paul Pioneer Press, is aware that his beastly temper has handicapped him more than any other one thing. He has ability closely verging upon genius and has had ample capital from the long purse of the senior member of Boston's biggest dry goods firm—Jordan & Marsh. But while Mansfield can be winning and the pink of courtesy if he wishes, he so seldom does so wish that he makes enemies where friends would be invaluable to him.
