Extract of a Letter from a Gentleman of eminence in a Sister Colony.

"I received your very obliging letter of the 19th of March, and the fine Oration which accompanied it. Mr. Hancock's Oration charmed me. It answered the design in the best manner. Full of sentiment, warm from the heart, it could not but awaken every passion which ought to be roused on such an occasion, and make even a Stoic, or an American Tory, feel resentment against the authors of the plan of military compulsion, and the perpetrators of the horrid massacre.--Others have done worthily, but Mr. Hancock has excelled them all. It greatly grieves me to hear that this great Patriot, by so extraordinary an exertion of his strength against the enemies of Liberty, is in danger of sinking under bodily infirmities and becoming a kind of Martyr in the glorious cause of his country. God grant his life may be spared!

The spirit of liberty increases in this province. If the Ministry should be so infatuated as to proceed in the same plan of tyranny. I doubt not we shall have not only many Orators but military heroes raised up to save their country from slavery and ruin."
