BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Dec. 6-- After telling Judge Martin Thursday afternoon that he had "recently returned from a three month's vacation in Kentucky," Sam Floyd who gives his address as anywhere changed his testimony and admitted that he was just off the county roads where he had been sent for stealing socks.
Floyd was arrested about one o'clock Wednesday after he had been captured by Miss Ruby Dyke saleslady for the McClellan store following a chase down the street and through an alley. Another saleslady, Miss B. Johnson who stated that she saw the man take some shirts and put them under his coat called the manager's attention to the affair. Miss Dyke testified that six shirts in all were taken by the man who threw them on the ground as he was seized.
