Case under the Compromise Act.—The Cinn. Republican says: "A case involving the question whether the officers of the customs had a right to collect duties on imported goods after the 30th of June last, and before the passage of the present tariff law, was determined at the last session of the U. S. Circuit Court at Richmonds Va.: After able arguments of counsel, the court took several days to consider the case, and agreed in a decision in favor of the United States. The amount of duties was $1,100 on a cargo of Sugar."
