Bowdoin College.-The annual commencement at this College took place on Wednesday, 9th inst. The Oration before the Atheneum Society was by John P. Hale, Esq. of Dover, N. H. on the Influence of Literature on National Destiny. That before the Peucinian Society, was by Rev. J. S. C. Abbott, of Roxbury, on the Subjection to law, That before the Alumni, was by President Lord, of Dartmouth College, on the Influence of Christianity. The last was a very able and learned performance. On Wednesday the performances by the Graduating Class took place, which are well spoken of. The class was small, and but few performed. Several of the class were unable to take their degrees, on account of their not being able to pay their bills. On Thursday, the oration before the Phi Beta Kappa was delivered by Theophilus Parsons, Esq., of Boston, who gave very great satisfaction.
