Full Text

By the news by the Great Western, as will be seen by our record, is exceedingly pacific. Great anxiety has been felt throughout the country to hear from England, and it has been generally presumed, that on the reception of intelligence in England, as to our proceedings, much wrath would be evinced, and warlike speeches and preparations become the order of the day. We are happy to learn, however, that such is not the case. Prudence and reason seem to have a place among our transatlantic friends, and we may perhaps entertain some hope, that something may be done, by way of settling this long standing question. Of this, however, we may better judge after the "agreement" of Gov. Fairfield, shall have been received by the British government.
