W. V. S. Thorne, superintendent of the St. Cloud railroad shops has resigned to accept a better position with the same company. He has recently invented a car coupling, which promises to be the one the railroad world has been looking after. It will be given a practical test on the cars of the Great Northern in actual service. For years past there has been a car coupler patented every week-day in the year, and yet freight trains are coupled with the original old link and pin device. The fortunate owner of the patent which shall be universally adopted will be awarded with a fortune of no mean proportions.
