Full Text

Dreadful Accident.—As the rail road train was about leaving Mansfield for this place on Monday afternoon, an Italian, who was on his way to New York, as second cook at the Astor House, in attempting to get in a car after they had started, lost his hold, and the wheels passed over his legs, crushing them in a shocking manner. He was brought to this city and conveyed to the Asylum. We understand from one of the attending physicians, that the left leg is so badly injured an amputation will be necessary. Both bones of the other leg are also broken but the limb can probably be saved if the sufferer survives the shock of the injury.—[Prov. Journal.
