Pinehurst May Be Site Of Monetary Meeting Following Conflict

WASHINGTON, Jan. 4. - (AP) - The Associated Press learned tonight that Pinehurst, N. C., had been mentioned as a possible site of an international monetary conference to consider post-war reconstruction and trade.

It was also learned that the Treasury had sent invitations to the conference to 44 nations.

Specifically, the conferees will consider tentative Treasury proposals for an $8,000,000,000 currency stabilization fund and a $10,000,000,000 world bank for reconstruction and development.

Officials said enough acceptances had been received to assure success of the conference, but added that no date had yet been set.

The conference is expected to be held in some other locality than Washington, and in this connection the North Carolina resort town has been mentioned as a possible site.
