O'NEIL AWARDS CONTRACTS AND MAKES LOCATIONS FOR FOUR CUT BANK GAS WELLS

Montana Contractors Given Work-Will Drill Southwest and Southeast of Michaels Gasser.

Marking definite commencement of the $15,000,000 Cut Bank-Butte gas project, contracts for the drilling of four gas wells in the Cut Bank district have been awarded by L. B. O'Neil.

Each of the four wells will be drilled by a Montana drilling contractor and each will be located in close proximity to the 15,000,000-foot gasser which O'Neil completed last year on the A. L. Michaels farm, 16 miles northeast of Cut Bank.

Southwest of the gasser, approximately half a mile southwest, Craig Drilling company will drill the No. 1 State, in NE NW 33-36-5W.

This well will be known as O'Neil-State Sec. 38 No. 1.

Three-quarters of a mile further to the southwest, George Nadeau will drill O'Neil-Schneider No. 1, in C NE SE/4 32-36-5W.

To the southeast two of the wells will be drilled southeast of the gasser and on a direct line between it and the Sandpoint-Berger No. 1, which had an 8,000,000-foot flow when completed a number of years ago.

O'Neil-State Sec. 34 No. 1, in C SE NW/4 34-36-5W, three quarters of a mile west of the gasser, will be drilled by Lon Crumley.

southeast and about a mile and
a quarter northwest of the Sand-
point-Berger location.
Nadeau Brothers

contract for
drilling O'Neil-Taylor
Spikes No. 1,
in C SW¼SW¼
35-36-5W.

Each of the contractors is now moving material to location and drilling is to get under way immediately.

More Contracts

It is reported
that further drilling contracts are to be let
shortly, in series of four. Approximately 30 wells are understood to be contemplated to ensure an adequate supply for the line, which will take about 33,000,000 feet per day in accordance
with the contract terms,
which call for the delivery of 12,000,000,000 feet annually.

To supply this amount of gas,
with wells operating at 20% of
capacity, an open flow of about 165,000,000 feet daily will be required.

In view of the wet gas and oil showings found by wells drilled in this district, opening of one or more oil fields is regarded as a distinct possibility as drilling proceeds.
